In this initiative, the Indian Railways are all set to install a total number of 75 lakh CCTV cameras equipped in 40,000 coaches, 14,000 locomotives, and 6,000 electric multiple units (EMUs) with Artificial Intelligence (AI) Powered CCTV cameras. It is expected that this initiative will surely improve the safety and security of trains.
According to sources, Indian Railways has decided to install 75 lakhs AI-powered CCTV cameras in all the coaches and the locomotives to improve the security for passengers. Hence, it is estimated that a total of 15,000 crores are invested in this project.

Why Was This Project Needed?
In this era of technological advancement Indian Railways thought that only a high technological effort could make the change. According to Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnav, the Indian Government has introduced AI-powered CCTV cameras on trains to maintain the safety system of railway tracks. In this initiative, the 75 lakh AI-powered CCTV cameras will not only be installed in trains but will also be installed in locomotive engines to alert the loco pilots. According to Mr. Vaishnav, this decision will surely make a serious and revolutionary change in the railways system.
