We discussed earlier that our state Bihar is full of heritages and tourist places. The government has taken the initiative to develop, protect and preserve these ancient sites. There are some ancient historical sites like Nalanda, Rajgir, Vaishali and Bodh Gaya that hold immense significance for Buddhism and ancient Indian history. These places need infrastructural development and maintenance from time to time to preserve them for longer periods of time.
Promotion of Cultural Festivals
Bihar is popularly known for its incredible culture and festivals like Chhath Puja. One of the most important festivals in Bihar is Chhath puja which is dedicated to the Sun God (Surya Dev) and Chhathi maiya (Shashti). In Bihar Chhath puja is known as “Mahaparv” and it falls two times in the year first in the month of Chaitra which is also called Chaiti Chhath and second in the month of Kartik (in November month) considered to be the biggest one.
In this festival, both men and women fast take holy baths and abstain from drinking water (Vrata). They stand in water and offer prasad (prayer offerings) and Aarghya to the setting and rising sun. Chhath puja is the only festival where people offer prasad and prayers to the rising as well as setting sun. This is one of the most unique and popular festivals in Bihar. Our state tourism department is also working to promote Chhath puja and Sonepur Mela on a Large Scale in order to attract domestic and International tourists.

Our government is spending money and investing in infrastructural development by improving accommodation, transportation and other tourist-related infrastructure.
