Teteliya Byrnihat Railway Project: Shillong which is the capital of Meghalaya, the state of Meghalaya will be connected with the Indian Railways network via the 22-kilometer-long Teteliya Byrnihat rail project. The railway project is scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2022.
Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland will be connected by Train Before 2023’s End
The North-east Frontier Railways (NFR) is already connecting the capital city of Assam Guwahati (adjacent Capital Dispur), Tripura, as well as Arunachal the capital cities of Pradesh, is currently laying tracks for connecting to the capital cities in three additional states in the north-eastern region: Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland until March 2023.

The Agartala-Akhaura railroad line will aid in the transportation of goods between these two countries, and will greatly benefit Northeastern India’s states that are landlocked. Its distance from Agartala as well as Kolkata via Bangladesh will be cut by half, by reducing the distance from 1,613 km in high mountainous terrain down to 514 km.
The 12.23 km new India-Bangladesh railway route is connected to the current Agartala railway station. The station has 5.46 kilometers of railway tracks constructed across India (on the edge of the capital city of Agartala) as well as 6.57 kilometers of railway lines laid down in Bangladesh.
The Rs.972-crore plan was completed in January of 2010 in the course of Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina’s visit to New Delhi when she was able to meet the then-Indian Premier Manmohan Singh.

“Work to provide railway connectivity to Sikkim was approved in 2008-09. The planned railway line will be able to pass through the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, which could cause numerous environmental concerns that hindered the progress. It is a project at the national level essential to the growth of Sikkim. In addition to being strategically important It is anticipated to improve connectivity for Sikkim, a landlocked state that has borders with three countries which include China, Nepal, and Bhutan when it is completed,” Chanda said.
Based on the CPRO, 41.55 kilometers of the 44.96-kilometer stretch is located situated in West Bengal, and 3.41 kilometers are located in Sikkim. The entire stretch is equipped with the latest technology to enable trains to travel at speeds up to 100 kilometers/hour. It is estimated that the cost of construction will be approximately Rs 8,900 crore from which around Rs 335.52 crore is already invested up to July 2020.
Indian Railways plan to connect the capitals of all states within the northeast. Indian Railways plan to link all capital cities of the state within the region in line with the central government’s strategy to ensure the development of the whole NE region. The Bairabi Sairang Sairang project is already given around 1,000 crores and will be executed in Mizoram’s Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). The new line will start starting from Bhairabi the line will have four stations: Hortoki, Kawnpui, Mualkhang as well as Sairang.
The railway is aiming for a final date of 2023 to complete the construction. The overall duration of the project is 51.38 kilometers. It will require a total cost in the amount of 5521.45 crores. It will comprise 55 major and minor bridges in addition to five roads over Bridges (ROBs) and six Roads under Bridges (RUBs). The entire project will consist of the construction of several tunnels.
